Can you imagine the pain of a 9-year-old child who decides that jumping from a fourth-floor building is better than sitting inside her own classroom?

For the last eight months, authorities tried to brush away the heartbreaking death of Amaira Meena, a Class 4 student in Jaipur. They called it a sad accident. They told her crying parents that there was “no criminal angle.” But now, new CCTV footage from inside the school has come out, and it shows a terrifying story of bullying, a teacher’s shocking carelessness, and a complete failure of humanity.

This is not just a school accident. This is a story of how a little girl begged for help five times, only to be ignored by the person who was supposed to protect her.

A Happy Morning Turns into a Horrific Nightmare

The most painful part of this story is how beautifully the day started. On that November morning, Amaira arrived at school completely happy and full of life.

The school’s security cameras show that Amaira was the very first student to enter the classroom. She was smiling, chatting, and welcomed her friends with open arms. She opened her school bag, happily ate a golgappa she brought from home, and spent time laughing with her classmates. After that, she went for a dance class that lasted for an hour and twenty minutes. Her father, Vijay Meena, says she was dancing with full energy and was completely normal.

But everything changed at 11:00 AM when she came back to the classroom.

A boy sitting in front of Amaira started troubling and bullying her. Being a disciplined child, Amaira quietly asked him to turn around and look at the blackboard. Instead of listening, the boy started mocking her. Soon, four or five other children joined in. They ganged up on a single 9-year-old girl, laughing at her and humiliating her while the rest of the class watched.

Two teachers were present in that room. For 55 minutes, this heavy bullying went on right in front of them, but they did absolutely nothing to save the child.

5 Times She Pleaded, 5 Times She Was Ignored

As the bullying got worse, Amaira did what any good child would do—she went to her class teacher, Mrs. Punita Sharma, for help.

She did not go just once. She went to the teacher’s desk five separate times.

“It takes immense courage for a nine-year-old child to approach a teacher five times,” says her mother, Shivani Meena. The silent CCTV video shows Amaira folding her hands, saying “Ma’am, Ma’am,” and trying to explain her side. She was desperately crying out: “Ma’am, I did not do this. I did not say this, ma’am. No, ma’am, no.”

But instead of punishing the bullies or comforting the crying girl, the teacher did something monstrous. She sided with the bullies. She cornered Amaira and shouted at her.

Even worse, the parents claim the CCTV footage shows that while a child’s life was being ruined in front of her, the teacher was busy scrolling through her mobile phone and online shopping on a digital screen.

Amaira went back to her seat, broken and helpless. The footage shows her holding her forehead in deep stress and mental agony. At 12:28 PM, unable to take the humiliation anymore, Amaira stood up and ran out of the classroom, slamming the door.

Nobody followed her. No teacher, no staff member, and no student cared enough to see where a panicked, hyperventilating little girl was running.

“Nobody Is Missing”: The 50-Minute Cover-Up

At 12:32 PM—just four minutes after Amaira ran out—the teacher was informed that a child had jumped from the fourth floor of the building.

Instead of rushing downstairs, the teacher reportedly sat in her chair and calmly started checking notebooks. For the next 50 minutes, the school management did absolutely nothing to inform the parents. Why? Because they claimed they “could not identify” the child lying on the ground.

The teacher kept pretending that every single student was safely inside her room and nobody was missing. How can a teacher not notice that the same girl who complained to her five times just minutes ago was missing from her seat?

Finally, at 1:08 PM, nearly 40 minutes after the fall, the school called Amaira’s father. They lied to him, saying his daughter was “a little bit hurt” and asked him to come to the hospital.

When the terrified parents rushed to the hospital in 8 minutes, they received the final shock. There was no one from the school there. The hospital staff told the parents that the school authorities had simply dropped the bleeding body of the little girl on a stretcher and run away like criminals.

Driven to the Edge

To understand how terrified Amaira must have been, you need to know one thing: Amaira was absolutely terrified of heights. Her mother says she was so scared of heights that she would refuse to stand even on a two-foot-high bench in their colony park.

For a child who was so deeply afraid of heights to climb over a fourth-floor railing requires an amount of fear and terror that no human being should ever experience. She didn’t want to die; she was in such a state of panic and tunnel vision that she just wanted to escape the cruelty inside that room.

Yet, for eight long months, the police and the school tried to close the case. The police told the parents there was “no criminal angle” and that their child must be upset about something else. The police investigating officer was changed three times just to delay the matter. Only when the parents dragged the case to the High Court did the school finally hand over the CCTV footage.

A later inspection by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) proved that the school had zero safety measures. There was no safety committee, no anti-bullying rules, bad camera monitoring, and the railings on the top floors were completely unsafe.

Public Demand: Arrest the Class Teacher

Right now, the police have only filed a weak case of “negligence” against the school principal, owner, and class teacher. But for an angry public and the broken parents, this is a mockery of justice.

This was not a mistake. This was 55 minutes of mental torture allowed by an adult teacher. When a teacher joins the bullies, ignores a child five times, and then hides the incident for an hour, it is a crime. It is wilful neglect and abetment to suicide.

The parents, Vijay and Shivani Meena, are demanding that the class teacher, Mrs. Punita Sharma, be arrested immediately under the strictest criminal laws.

We send our children to school believing they are safe. If a teacher can watch online shopping sites while a 9-year-old child begs for her life, then schools are no longer safe spaces. The culprits must be jailed, or no parent in India will ever be able to trust a school again.
